RemObjects has officially announced the 5th generation of their Data Abstract framework (codename 'Vinci').

DataAbstract is a powerful RAD tool for multi-tier database  solutions. It contains the award-winning RemObjects SDK, which was a separate product in earlier versions. There are 2 available editions, one for Delphi and one for the .NET platform. The .NET version is optimized for Microsoft's Visual Studio and can be used with Mono to create clients and servers  for a wide range of platforms.

The first release will contain new features like

  • support for flexible and intuitive Reconcile Dialogs
  • new high-speed client  data table for DA/Delphi
  • new powerful channels, including the Super HTTP Channel on both platforms and an http.sys based channel for RO/.NET
  • new and improved Bin2DataStreamer for more efficient data transfer between client and server
  • official support for the Free Pascal Compiler (FPC) in RemObjects SDK and Data Abstract for Delphi
  • support for new database drivers, including SQLite (both platforms), BDE (Delphi), Zeos (Delphi/FPC) and SQL Server Compact Edition (.NET)
  • full support for IPv6 in Internet Pack for.NET
  • new XML, GUID and Decimal data types in RemObjects SDK
